Have your 4SQ at Times Square?
This is my 2nd entry on Tumblr.. I still haven’t done anything just yet but I’m kinda thrilled that I have my own kinda personal blog.. Yea, it has been a while since I actually have one. Perhaps it’s the time factor that’s stopping me to blog my personal thoughts.
But to literally blog on a personal level, it might take a few entries or even more, for myself to get use to the feeling. I don’t even know how long this Tumblr of mine will last and I don’t have an exact plan just yet. As for now, I’m going with the flow.
This RA tumblr was also spurred by the fact that my current website ranoadidas.com is experiencing server breakdown and I’m kinda frustrated by this whole incident that has been affecting my workflow. I just hope my readers especially my clients/advertisers are patient about the situation. I’ve already alerted my hosting and the addressed the importance of this issue.
Last night, I had our so called “alignment” meeting with my mates - Nana, Lisa and Jo at Lisa’s crib. My 10s, Michelle, Winnie and Sophia were absent. We also have our guest from Kuching, Ping-Ping, who joined us on Skype. It was kinda tricky to start sharing our thoughts of the day when we just kept cracking up. By midnight, our task was completed and it was pretty refreshing and it was really great to see Ping-Ping live on Skype after our last encounter at Hua-Hin, Thailand.

Last weekend, we had our mini alignment at the basement of The Empire Hotel & Country Club. I’m not sure what the theme that they are having down there but it is a great place to chill and just catch up with my mates. I craved for their signature cake which was the “kueh batek” and they were serving those at the Ramadhan village. You can also enjoy their Turkish tea which I didn’t try but Thanis gave some good feedback during our first visit.
Apparently, this joint is only during available during Ramadhan period. The management of The Empire Hotel is still unsure if they will continue the cozy theme after Ramadhan. I do hope they keep it for a while as I still wanna chill and enjoy our conversations without any noise pollution (that you get from populated cafes). Plus side, the wifi from the lobby can reach the basement level which is awesome.
We stayed pretty late that night :D
Yesterday, I had my “golden sand” moments if I should drop by the newly opened Times Square in Brunei. Don’t be fooled if you are expecting the Times Square like in KL. Being the paparazzi I am, I thought it would be a good coverage for my site *cough.. is it up yet?* I reached the area around 3:30pm and I was already praying before my arrival that I would steal a great parking spot. Cars were already parked by the road side and that was an indication Times Square was the happening spot to be then.
I met up with JT and AM who showed me around the premises. It’s not as big as compared to The Mall, Gadong but they have two stores that will attract our typical shoppers. Namely Giant supermarket and a new store, Super Save Store, the 38th branch in Borneo and the first to be in Brunei Darussalam. So these are your magnets followed by other stores such as Etude (a new make up store from Korea), Lof Bakery, Sugar Bun, Homeland (IKEA products), Guardian and a few more.
There’s not much to brag about in terms of the shops at Times Square. Dee Jay Home Video is rumoured to move in as well as The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. However, the ground floor has an ideal place to carry out small expos like you see at The Mall. At the moment, there’s a so-called “Raya Times Exhibition” happening right now until Hari Raya.
A new place to shop for the ladies
One tip if you were to pay a visit to Times Square, I suggest you park somewhere near Kebajikan rather than using the normal route from the roundabout. I’m pretty sure that area will still be packed because Hari Raya is just around the corner. Come to think of it, I probably be slightly relief that Hari Raya is soon so I won’t have to work too much about the accessibility of my current website. Ok, I shouldn’t take that for granted and plus I have my clients to satisfy and also overseas students who will check out some raya pictures to make them feel like home :)
Guys, I thanked you for your time and your patience. And one great quote which my friend posted on Facebook, “There’s no special ingredient.. only YOU!” I believe this was one of the lines from Kungfu Panda. Have a nice day, peeps! :)
